Pathum Nissanka will not feature in the second Test against India at Bengaluru

India vs Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka opener Pathum Nissanka has sustained a back injury just before the start of the second Test against India.

This is a big blow for the visitors who are already struggling with Dushmantha Chameera and Lahiru Kumara.

The medical team of Sri Lanka has advised skipper Dimuth Karunaratne to use Chameera only for limited-overs format.

Chameera will be playing in the IPL this year for the Lucknow Super Giants.

On the other hand, Nissanka was the only positive for Sri Lanka in the first Test that the visitors lost by a huge margin.

Karunaratne wanted to use Chameera for the second Test but his injury is not allowing him to participate in the series.

Chameera has played eight T20 internationals so far including 5 in Australia and 3 in India.

The only other quick option for Sri Lanka right now is Chamika Karunaratne.

As far as the replacement for Nissanka goes, Dinesh Chandimal will most likely replace him in the playing XI tomorrow.
