Perth Scorchers have gotten a stellar deal as they bring Faf Du Plessis on board in a replacement deal. Faf will don the orange jersey in the upcoming season of the Big Bash League.

Faf Du Plessis is a South African veteran explosive batter. His sheer power and effortless stoke playing ability have made him one of the top-ranked T20 players in the world. However, his career went downhill in his prime owing to a spat with the South African cricket board. The rumors were that Faf Du Plessis and the South African cricket board were in disagreement over an issue. The matter reportedly escalated, and Faf was barred from selection for the national team.

Nevertheless, Faf did not back down and kept playing for multiple franchise leagues all around the world. After a successful stint with Chennai Super Kings in IPL, Faf Du Plessis was recently roped in as the captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore. He led the team from the front, and they finished third in the tournament.

“I’m really excited to be signing with Perth Scorchers,” Faf Du Plessis

Faf Du Plessis is all set to join one of the most successful teams in the Big Bash League. Perth Scorchers have announced the arrival of Faf Du Plessis for the upcoming season. Faf is coming in as a replacement for Laurie Evans. Laurie Evans had to part with Scorchers after he failed a doping test and will be out of action for a while. Moreover, Du Plessis has issued a statement saying that he is excited to be a part of a franchise that is a 4-time champion.

“I’m really excited to be signing with Perth Scorchers. I think the first thing that jumps to mind is that Perth are four-time champions, which is very impressive. Any player who plays around the world wants to win competitions, so it’s a great franchise to be part of”

He further added that he would be looking to learn a lot of things. Moreover, the Protea is also confident of adding value to this successful team.

“I’m also keen to come in and learn. I think it’s important to learn from other people and organisations, and find out why they’re successful. I’m also excited to share my experiences and the things I’ve learned, and hopefully, that can be a great combination”

However, Du Plessis is likely to play only a handful of matches at the start of the tournament as he has previous T20 commitments to attend to.
