Piyush Chawla credits son for his motivation to keep working hard

Mumbai Indians

In their recent IPL 2023 game against Gujarat Titans at the Wankhede Stadium, a sensational unbeaten knock of 103* off 49 balls by Suryakumar Yadav led Mumbai Indians to a mammoth total of 218 runs in the first innings. While many players were in the limelight, veteran spinner Piyush Chawla’s consistent performance played a crucial role in the team’s success. Chawla bowled brilliantly, registering figures of 2/36 in his four-over spell, and claimed the wickets of Vijay Shankar and Rahul Tewatia, providing the crucial breakthroughs for Mumbai.

Despite Titans’ all-rounder Rashid Khan’s brilliant all-round show, they failed to chase down the target, falling short by 27 runs. Chawla has been a standout performer for Mumbai this season, with 19 wickets in the tournament so far. He is ranked third in the IPL 2023 Purple Cap rankings. His season salary of INR 50 lakh has already been repaid in full, making him an excellent value for money deal for Mumbai.

Chawla’s performance has been remarkable, and he has been instrumental in Mumbai’s success in this season. His experience and consistency have proven to be valuable assets for the team. He has been delivering impressive performances game after game. Mumbai will be hoping that Chawla continues to maintain his form in the remaining games of the season, and helps them in their quest for a sixth IPL title.

Playing for my son: Chawla

Piyush Chawla said:

“I am playing my son. He never saw me playing, he was too young when I was playing in my prime. But now he understands the game and knows what I am doing. He is still 6 but he understands. He is the reason I kept working hard.”

Furthermore, Chawla is just 12 wickets behind Yuzvendra Chahal, who recently became the IPL’s all-time leading wicket-taker. Mumbai Indians started the season poorly, but have shown determination and consistency. They’ve breached the 200-run mark several times and increasing their chances of reaching the playoffs.
