Ponting wants ‘Best of Three’ for the World Test Championship

Ricky Ponting

The former Australian captain Ricky Ponting has said that World Test Championship Final should have three matches to decide the winner of the tournament. In this year’s June month, India will clash with the Aussies in The Oval. In the last tournament, India and New Zealand played in the World Test Championship Final. However, India lost the match against New Zealand by 8 wickets under the captaincy of Virat Kohli. The match was played in the Home of Cricket The Lords.

Ricky Ponting on World Test Championship Said that

“That’s a very good question. I actually haven’t thought about that before. I have thought about having the best of three finals in T20 cricket. That’s what I have thought, because I think with the T20 game and even an IPL or the Big Bash that obviously happens in Australia. I’ve always felt that to get a fairer reflection of the best team through a tournament may be a three game final series, might be the best way to do it”

Ricky Ponting further added that

“But World Cups are not like that. World Cups are about here and now, in the moment it would be like having an Olympic 100-metre sprint final when you do it three times,” Ponting concluded.

Ricky Ponting is now the head coach of the Delhi franchise in the Indian Premier League. Delhi becomes the first team to get out of the tournament. It is so unfortunate for them as a team because early in the tournament they lost their captain Pant.
