Prabhsimran Singh credits Shikhar Dhawan for backing him in IPL

Shikhar Dhawan

In the 8th game of the TATA IPL, Punjab Kings handed Rajasthan Royals their first defeat of the season by 5 runs.

Additionally, the main stalwarts of this match were Prabhsimran Singh and Shikhar Dhawan who contributed 60 and 86 runs respectively.

On the other hand, the Royals won their first game in great style against Sunrisers Hyderabad and wanted to get a similar result in this game as well.

But, it was not to be as the Punjab Kings were dominant throughout the game.

Said Prabhsimran after the game,

I’m very thankful to God for my first fifty in five years of playing the IPL. It was an enjoyable knock, and I hope to continue like this.

Furthermore, the 22-year-old said that he got a lot of backing from skipper Dhawan.

Moreover, he has also stated that he got a lot of support from Dhawan, and that helped him get to his first IPL fifty.

Adds Prabhsimran,

Shikhar Dhawan asked me if he should take strike since I had never faced Trent Boult before, but I told him that I’ll take strike. He backed me throughout my innings. Whenever we spoke to each other while batting, he told me to play your natural game and express yourself, the rest I’ll handle.

Rajasthan Royals face their first loss of the IPL

Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals got a stiff target of 198 after Punjab Kings posted a hefty score of 197.

In the second innings, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ravichandran Ashwin came out to open the batting but were dismissed cheaply by the Punjab bowlers.

Furthermore, the pressure increased on RR when Jos Buttler was sent back to the pavilion after scoring just 19 runs.

Thereafter, skipper Samson broke the shackles for his team as he scored 42 runs which gave some hope to his team of winning the game.

Afterward, it was a solid partnership between Shimron Hetmyer and Dhruv Jurel who took the game very close toward the end.

However, they fell short by just 5 runs in the end but will now look to perform better in their next game.
