Sussex and India batter, Cheteshwar Pujara scored a brilliant ton for his side in the One-Day Cup against Northamptonshire.

The match between the two sides was played two days before, that is on the 6th of August.

While Sussex was reeling from the double blow it had received in the form of Tom Alsop and skipper Tom Haines, Pujara remained gritty and scored 106 from 119 balls.

Although Pujara is not a regular player in India’s white-ball format, he has batted in a disciplined manner in List-A cricket.

In the game against Northamptonshire, Sussex ended their innings on 240 runs after 45 overs in a rain-curtailed match.

Meanwhile, Pujara’s knock in this game included four boundaries and two maximums at a strike rate of 89.07.

Moreover, he also hit his 15th ton and has amassed 5383 runs in List-A cricket from 119 games.

Northamptonshire beat Sussex in a narrow game

On the other hand, Pujara last played for India in the ICC World Test Championship 2021-23 against Australia.

However, his scores of 14 and 27 weren’t enough to help India win the tournament.

Talking about the match, Northamptonshire and India batter, Prithvi Shaw started off well for his side as he scored four fours and made 26 from 17 balls.

But, his innings were shortened by Bradley Currie who dismissed him to help Sussex take control of the game.

Meanwhile, contributions from Sam Whiteman, skipper Lewis McManus, and Tom Taylor ensured that Northamptonshire got the game in their favor once again.

In the end, Northamptonshire beat Sussex by a narrow margin of three wickets and eight balls to spare.

Now, Sussex will look to beat Derbyshire in their next game which is on the 9th of August.
