In today’s all-important Pakistan vs South Africa match, it was Pakistan who beat South Africa comprehensively.

They now have 4 points but still, need to win more games in order to advance to the semi-finals.

Because of this win, the points table in Group 2 have taken on a new look. For South Africa, today’s game was a straight qualification to the semis.

Pakistan is now 3rd in the points table after beating the Proteas and will look to win against Bangladesh.

India are at the top of the table with 6 points and would require a win against Zimbabwe in their last match to get the golden ticket to the semis.

However, a defeat will also see India through if the Proteas lose their last match. The last and final scenario is India depending on Bangladesh beating Pakistan by a narrow margin to go up by NRR.

South Africa only needs to win their last match in order to qualify for the semis. But, if Pakistan vs Bangladesh match produces a result then they could be out of the tournament.

Pakistan’s qualification chances depend on them beating Bangladesh and then hoping that South Africa loses their match against the Netherlands or the match gets washed out.

Additionally, India’s loss to Zimbabwe could also be beneficial for Pakistan as their NRR is much better than India’s.

And finally, Bangladesh whose NRR is the worst in the group need to beat Pakistan in their last match and then hope that South Africa gets defeated by the Netherlands.

Bangladesh is not going to benefit from India’s loss to Zimbabwe as well.
