Rahul loosing support from team? Coach Rahul hints likewise

KL

Team coach Rahul Dravid finally opened up about Lokesh Rahul’s bad form. According to him, Rahul has to choose the way out of the bad form himself. Because, he has to see everyone in the party equally and not fall for any one person.

In an interview given to a broadcasting channel, Dravid opened up about the Indian batter. He said,

“When playing on this type of pitch, the batsman has to find a way to run. Everyone’s batting style is different. The style of running is also different. I can’t stick to just one player. There are more cricketers in the team. Everyone should be taken care of. Because this series is very important for us.”

Rahul scored only 38 runs in the first two Tests against Australia. Whether he will be in the playing XI for the third Test at Indore is not yet certain. In this situation, the coach advised him to believe in himself. Dravid said,
“I think he has to believe in himself. This time comes in the life of every cricketer. There is nothing special to teach about batting technique. It all depends on how mentally prepared you are to face the tough times.”

Rahul has to overcome himself: Head coach

However, he and the team still have confidence in Rahul, said Dravid. He said,

“Rahul has hundreds in South Africa and England. I believe Rahul has the ability to overcome bad times. But he has to do it himself. I hope Rahul can do that.

Rahul has played a total of 7 Tests since the South Africa series in 2022. He scored only 175 runs. Apart from a 50-run innings in Johannesburg, he has no big runs with the bat. But Rahul is slowly losing the trust of the management! He has been removed from the post of vice-captain of the Indian Test team. Hardik Pandya has been made Rohit Sharma’s deputy in the one-day series. Rahul’s place in the one-day team has also gone.

However, even if he is in the team, there is a possibility that Rahul will not play in the first eleven against Australia in Indore. Shubman Gill is sitting on the reserve bench. He has been in very good form lately. So it is no surprise to see Shubman coming down to open with Rohit at the Holkar Stadium.
