Rahul says playing a delicate inning against RCB was the right call

KL

Lucknow Super Giants did the unthinkable against Royal Challengers Bangalore as the KL Rahul-led side won the game by 1 wicket.

Thanks to Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran, LSG was able to chase down the target of 213.

However, skipper KL Rahul decided to take it easy in the run-chase and played a very delicate inning against RCB and was then sent packing at 18 from 20 balls.

But, in the post-match presentation, Rahul said that it was the right call to play cautiously against RCB.

Earlier, contributions from Faf du Plessis, Virat Kohli, and Glenn Maxwell, RCB posted 212 runs on the board.

Additionally, du Plessis got 79 runs while Kohli and Maxwell scored 61 and 59 respectively in the innings.

But, in the second innings, LSG got to a bad start as they lost Kyle Mayers for naught.

Therefore, it was up to Rahul to bat well and revive the run-chase for his side. But, with his delicate inning, Rahul did not get much profit for his team.

After his dismissal, the team was under even more pressure but it was released quickly by Stoinis and Pooran.

Said Rahul after the match,

I want to score more runs and I think I score more runs; the strike rate goes up. We have played a couple of games in tough wickets in Lucknow. Today we lost 3 wickets so I look at the situation and I felt like I did the right thing and if I could have carried on and stayed there till the end with Nicky (Nicholas Pooran), could’ve won the game a lot easier. Once I get some good knocks under my belt, I’ll start feeling good and that will go up.

Rahul, Stoinis, and Pooran save the day for Lucknow Super Giants

During regular dismissals in the second innings, the pressure of winning the game was on for Lucknow Super Giants.

However, Stoinis and Pooran stepped up and took the responsibility to win the game for their side and scored 65 and 62 runs respectively.

Additionally, Pooran has also hit the fastest fifty of this season in just 15 balls and has overtaken Chennai Super Kings’ Ajinkya Rahane, who got his in 19 balls.

Now, Lucknow Super Giants will next face Punjab Kings on the 15th of April.
