Raipur to host its first ever international cricket match as India will face New Zealand in 2023

BCCI announced Indian Men’s cricket team’s domestic schedule for the year 2023. Raipur has been given the hosting rights for India vs New Zealand game.

India will host New Zealand for a home white ball series. India and New Zealand will play 3 ODIs and as many T20s. The second One-Day International (ODI) between India and New Zealand will be played at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. The match will be played in January 2023.

Raipur has previously hosted a number of domestic games. However, this match will be the first ever international game to be played at this venue. Moreover, the venue has the capacity to host 60000 people and is located in the heart of Raipur.

Second ODI match between India and New Zealand to be played in Chhatisgarh

Chhattisgarh State Cricket issued a statement and confirmed that the second ODI match between India and New Zealand will be played at Raipur on 21st January 2023.

“It will be the first time when an international cricket match will be played in any stadium in Chhattisgarh. The second ODI match of the India vs New Zealand series will be played here on January 21, 2023. No international cricket match has been played in the stadium till date. It will be the first time that Chhattisgarh will get a chance to host an international cricket match.”

Raipur previously hosted Road Safety Series games and produced high scoring games. The stadium had been bidding to host an international match for a long time. The board finally received it’s due and will host its first ever international match.

India’s home season will begin on 3rd January 2023 against Sri Lanka. The home season will be for 3 months, ending in March 2023. In these three months, Team India will play a total of 19 matches.
