Ranji Trophy 2022: Sreesanth becomes emotional after taking his first domestic wicket after 9 years

Ranji Trophy

India and Kerala veteran fast bowler S Sreesanth became overjoyed and emotional after taking his first domestic wicket in the Ranji Trophy against Meghalaya.

He received confirmation from the on-field umpire for the wicket and then straightaway lay flat on the pitch.

This video of him went viral on social media and Sreesanth himself reposted it on his Twitter handle.

He remained away from the sport of cricket for 9 long years and thus, this was a pretty special moment for him.

He said in the caption to the video that after taking the wicket, he offered pranaam to the wicket.

Sreesanth had received a lifetime ban from cricket due to his involvement in a spot-fixing case in the IPL.

But the ban was lifted after a few years.

Sreesanth is also trying to make a comeback in the IPL but so far has not had any success. He had applied in both 2021 and 2022 Mega Auctions.

For India, Sreesanth has played 27 Tests, 53 ODIs and 10 T20Is. His wicket tally in all three formats is 87, 75 and 7 respectively.

As far as the IPL is concerned, he has played 44 games wherein he has 40 wickets to his credit.
