As the start of the Ranji Trophy is coming near, the latest reports from the Mumbai camp has revealed that Prithvi Shaw will remain skipper of the Mumbai Ranji Team and Ajinkya Rahane will play under him.

The decision was arrived at after consultation with Amol Mazumdar and Ajinkya Rahane.

Rahane captained India in 6 Test matches and he was the captain in the Gabba Test that India won and created a historical record for themselves.

Apart from this, he also led India in three One Day Internationals as well.

Rahane, on his part, has played 82 Tests, 90 ODIs, and 20 T20 Internationals for India.

Mumbai is part of the Elite Group that contains defending champions Saurashtra, Goa and Odisha.

They will play all of their league matches in Ahmedabad.

All players will report to the camp on February 9th.

Shaw has also captained the Mumbai side in last year’s Vijay Hazare Tournament.

If the tournament had started on January 13, then Rahane would not have made the cut.

Shivam Dube also makes a return to the squad for the tournament. Dube had contracted COVID-19 in January.
