Ranji Trophy: Saha is not willing to play for Bengal in the tournament for the knockout stage

Ranji Trophy

As per recent news for Bengal, senior wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha has backed out from the tournament.

He has asked for a NOC from the Cricket Association of Bengal which has been accepted by them.

Avishek Dalmiya has confirmed the news of Saha not playing for Bengal in the knockout match against Jharkhand.

However, he refrained from giving any further comment as to why Saha is not playing in the tournament.

Previously, Bengal had put in the names of Saha along with Mohammed Shami in the squad but it led to quite a furore back then due to controversies.

Dalmiya also didn’t comment on why there was a controversy after Bengal picked Saha into the squad.

Although Saha is not in the books of India’s selectors, he is nevertheless performing well in the ongoing season of the IPL for Gujarat Titans.

He has so far scored 312 runs in 10 games as Gujarat’s opener.

Saha also did not participate in the league stage of the Ranji Trophy.

This did not go down well with the CAB and joint secretary of the board, Debabrata Das raised questions about Saha’s commitment to playing cricket for his state.
