Ravi Shastri expects a white wash in the Border Gavaskar Trophy

Ravi

Ravi Shastri has been the mastermind behind India’s two consecutive series win against Australia, in their own backyard. With Shastri’s guidance, and Virat Kohli’s captaincy India sealed a historic win in Australia in the 2018-19 session. The 2020-21 win has been outstanding too. With the team gradually falling under the claws of Injury, the team still managed to rise tall amidst the ashes and win by 3-1. As Shastri asked his boys, they indeed wore the “36 all out” as a “badge”- a “badge” of pride the last season.

With Border Gavaskar Trophy knocking on the door, the famed rivalry between the Indians and the Kiwis had fumed up. Shastri however wants this new India to white the guests this time. The former coach expressed that, Dravid and co. should go for a clean sweep of 4-0 against Pat Cummins’ men.

‘My mindset would be, How can I beat Australia 4-0 if I’m the coach’: Ravi Shastri

Rohit Sharma led men will face the Aussies on 9th February, in Nagpur’s Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium. On the ICC Review Show, Shastri said,

“India should look to win 4-0, we’re playing at home. I’m brutal. I’ve been to two tours of Australia, I know what’s happened.”

This Border Gavaskar trophy will also play a vital role in deciding the final stand in the ICC World Test Championship.

Shastri added,

“My mindset would be, How can I beat Australia 4-0 if I’m the coach, which means day one, I want a ball to pitch on leg stump and hit off stump. I want it to rip. If someone asks me what kind of pitch? Expect that. If you lose the toss, expect the ball to turn in the first session of play. That’s what I want, and take it from there.”

Both, Australia and India are the two teams to compete in the final of the ICC World Test Championship. Earlier, ICC had confirmed that ICC World Test Championship final will take place between 7 and 11 June 2023. England’s Oval will host the final of the Test Championship.
