Ravichandran Ashwin bagged 300 wickets on 1000th IPL match

Ashwin touched the milestone in the historic match of IPL. The 36-year-old Rajasthan Royals spinner Ravichandran Ashwin set the precedent of taking 300 wickets in T20 cricket in the match between Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals on Sunday. Eventually, it was the 1000th IPL match, and Wankhade Stadium hosted it for the sake of Mumbai Indians.

Ashwin became the second Indian bowler to take 300 wickets in T20 cricket. Yuzvendra Chahal, Ashwin’s teammate in the IPL and Indian team, was the first Indian bowler to achieve this feat.

Ashwin took 2 wickets giving 27 runs against Mumbai on Sunday. He got Ishan Kishan (28) and Cameron Greene’s (44) wicket . Prior to this match, Ashwin’s wicket tally in T20 cricket was 298. The veteran off-spinner reached the milestone of 300 wickets after dismissing Green. He touched this milestone after playing 305th match of 20 overs. Chahal has 311 wickets in 273 T20 matches he played.

Sunday’s match was the 1000th match of the IPL. Ashwin came down to play his 193rd match at IPL. His wicket in IPL is 170. Former Sri Lankan fast bowler Lasith Malinga had already touched the record. Ashwin is joint third with Malinga in terms of taking wickets in the IPL. Along with them are Lucknow Super Giants spinner Amit Mishra and Mumbai Indians spinner Piyush Chawla.

Dwayne Bravo tops this list. His number of victims in IPL are 183. Chahal is in second place. He has taken 178 wickets so far.
