Ravindra Jadeja to join Test squad ahead of BG Trophy

Jadeja

Team India’s star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja will be joining the Indian camp, ahead of the Test series against Australia. It will be starting in Nagpur on and from February 9. But before that, he needs clearance from the National Cricket Academy (NCA). It, however, is clear that NCA has already given him a fitness report. It thus has clarified his participation in the Border Gavaskar Trophy.

In September 2022, Ravindra Jadeja went through surgery on his right knee. Jadeja thus couldn’t take part in any game for India. He even wasn’t a part of the Asia Cup 2022. He missed out on the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia as well as the bilateral series against Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and New Zealand.

Jadeja was thereafter advised to play at least one match before taking part in the Test series. The veteran all-rounder took a seven-wicket haul for Saurashtra in a Ranji Trophy match against Tamil Nadu. After his comeback at the Ranji trophy, Jadeja went through his final fitness tests at the NCA. There, he secured clearance to join the Men in Blue, for the Test.

Team India looking for a spot in WTC Final: Jadeja to play a vital part

After the sealing series against New Zealand, team India will move on to the red-ball test series, against big-arc rival Australia. Both sides are looking forwards to the clash for a better spot at the ICC World Test Championship 2021-23 cycle.

So far, 15 series of The Border Gavaskar Trophy have been played with India winning nine of them. Australia however won five of those, one resulted in a draw. The first test will be played at Nagpur’s Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium. The two teams will face each other at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium for the final one on 9th March.

India will try to seal a fourth consecutive series win against Australia. It will also help them to secure the desired spot in the upcoming WTC final which will be played in this year’s June.
