Indian Premier League

The mini-auction for the IPL 2023 will begin on 23rd December 2022 in Kochi at 2.30 PM IST. 405 players in total will go under the hammer tomorrow.

The T20 season is back. IPL will return for its 16th season. The tournament will begin in March 2023. Ahead of the tournament, the mini-auction for IPL 2023 will take place. Out of the 991 registered players, 405 players received the green light to go under the hammer at IPL 2023 auction.

However, a few teams have a very low purse amount because they spent the majority of their money on retention. Out of them are the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), and Rajasthan Royals (RR). RCB has 8.75 crores in the bag, whereas KKR managed to save 7.05 crores for the auction. RR has a little bit more than the other two, but not much. They have 13.2 crores purse amount left.

“RCB, RR, and KKR don’t have to do much at IPL 2023 auction,” Aakash Chopra

Ahead of the IPL 2023 mini-auction, commentator Aakash Chopra uploaded a video on his Youtube channel discussing the mini-auction. He mentioned three franchises that have a very limited amount of money to spend. He feels that even if the franchises wished to buy anyone, the funds would not allow them to.

“RCB, RR, and KKR don’t have to do much shopping. They will just do a bit of window shopping and even if they wish to buy someone, they can’t because they just don’t have the budget,”

Aakash Chopra further added that all-rounders will be the biggest gainers at the IPL 2023 auction table. Some of the most prominent names in world cricket will be featured in the auction, and they are expected to go for big bucks tomorrow.

“Other teams will probably splurge huge sums while filling bigger holes, but I feel all-rounders are going to have a field day in the auction,”
