RCB Women Announce Coaching Staff for WPL 2023

RCB has hired a new head coach, Ben Swayer from Australia for the inaugural edition of WPL. He is currently coaching the women’s team in New Zealand.

Mike Hesson will continue as Director of Cricket for RCB. Malolan Rangarajan, who currently heads scouting for RCB, will work with new head coach Ben Sawyer as Assistant Head Coach.

RCB have also hired Vanitha VR, a former India woman cricketer, as the Fielding Coach. Vanitha played a key role in building the team and scouting players. RX Murali is also named as the Batting Coach for RCB Women’s team in preparation for WPL 2023.

RCB HAS NAMED SANIA MIRZA AS THE MENTOR

The Royal Challengers Bangalore women’s team has appointed Sania Mirza as their mentor in the Women’s Premier League. RCB announced the news on their official Twitter account on Wednesday.

“The pioneer in Indian sports for women, a youth icon, someone who has played Bold and broken barriers throughout her career, and a champion on and off the field. We are proud to welcome Sania Mirza as the mentor of the RCB women’s cricket team,”

wrote the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

“I was a little surprised but I was excited. Fortunately or unfortunately, I’ve been a professional athlete for 20 years. My next job is to try and help young women and young girls believe that sports can be one of the first career choices for them,”

Sania Mirza said after her appointment.

On February 13th, during the WPL auction, RCB achieved a historic feat by making the highest buy of INR 3.4 crore for Smriti Mandhana. In addition, the team also acquired other star names such as Sophie Devine, Ellyse Perry, Renuka Singh, and Richa Ghosh.
