RCB yet to see a win in WPL, embraces defeat against DC

RCB are almost out of the WPL after losing five matches in a row. The team Royal Challengers Bangalore has now became the new ‘chokers’ in this women’s T20 league.

Batting first, RCB made 150 loosing four wickets on Monday. In reply, with two balls to spare, Delhi Capitals won the match by losing four wickets as well. Alice Capsey (38) scored the highest runs for Delhi.

Smriti Mandhana failed in such an important match at DY Patil Stadium on Monday. The RCB skipper returned to the pavilion with just eight runs off 13 balls.

RCB is almost out of the WPL

RCB’s innings was pulled by Elyse Perry at number three. She scored an unbeaten 67 off 52 balls. Hit four four, five six. Bengal’s wicketkeeper batsman Richa Ghosh created a storm at the end. Richa scored 37 runs off 16 balls. Three fours, three sixes are available from Richa’s bat. Among the Delhi bowlers, Shikha Pandey took three wickets.

In reply, Delhi Capitals scored 88 for the loss of three wickets in 11 overs chasing runs. Shefali Verma, who had batted devastatingly in the previous match, returned to the pavilion scoreless. Captain Meg Lanning’s collection is 15. Marijane Kapp (32 not out) and Jess Jonassen (29 not out) led Delhi to victory after that. Before the start of the women’s league, there was a lot of interest in RCB. But they completely disappointed.

Jonassen hopes to keep contributing for DC

Smriti however, said at the award ceremony after the dissapointing perfomance of RCB,

“Our bowlers bowled well. Due to which the match was dragged to 20 overs. We are improving. But there is a lot more to improve.”

One of the heroes of Delhi’s victory against RCB, the best cricketer of the match Jess Jonassen said,

“I didn’t realize that the match will be so tight. But I am happy with the team that I managed to win in the end.”

While speaking about her stellar performance against RCB in this WPL, she further added,

“In domestic cricket, I bat in the middle. That’s why it’s not a problem to play upwards here. Hopefully, I can play like this.”
