Richa Ghosh got the big benefit of a couple of innings in T20 World Cup

Richa Ghosh is in good form in the ongoing Women’s T20 World Cup. Bengal’s wicketkeeper-batsman has also had success with the bat against West Indies and England. She even got good results in the Women’s Under 19 World Cup. She led the junior team to their first Under 19 World Cup victory, as well as the Indian Women’s first ever World Cup Win!

ICC has released new rankings in women’s cricket. Richa Ghosh is the fifth Indian batsman in the top 20 batsmen in T20 cricket. Despite getting out for zero runs against Ireland, she has moved up 16 steps to number 20 in the batsmen’s rankings. This is Richa’s best position as a batsman in T20 cricket. An unbeaten 44 off 32 balls against the West Indies and an innings of 47 off 34 balls against England have catapulted the Siliguri native into the top 20 of the ICC rankings. She was picked up by Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs. 1.9 million in the women’s IPL auction.

Apart from Richa Ghosh, Mandhana and Verma to gain steep rise

Other Indians in the top 20 are Smriti Mandhana (threShefalafali Verma (10), Jemima Rodriguez (12) and Harmanpreet Kaur (13). Renuka Singh also advanced in the list of bowlers in T20 cricket with 15 runs and 5 wickets against England. She has climbed seven places to fifth place.

Apart from Richa Ghosh, Muniba Ali became Pakistan’s first woman cricketer to score a century in T20 cricket in the current World Cup. The batsman has also reached the best place in his cricket career with centuries. An innings of 102 runs from 68 balls has brought Muniba 10 places to the 64th position.

Another woman cricketer has come to the best place in life. New Zealand’s Amelia Kerr played a match-winning innings of 66 runs against Sri Lanka and moved up three places to 13th in the list of batsmen. He is also one step ahead in the ranking of all-rounders and is on the third position.
