Rishabh Pant likely to miss Border-Gavaskar trophy, IPL 2023

Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant is reportedly ruled out for 3-6 months after surviving a horrific car accident on Friday, 30th December 2022.

Rishabh Pant met with a tragic road accident while traveling on the Dehradun-Delhi highway. Pant was driving home for New Year’s Eve to Roorkee. Late in the night, Rishabh was driving at a high speed on the highway. Apparently, Pant felt sleepy and lost control of his car. The car hit the divider and flipped 2-3 times.

Rishabh Pant was rescued by the bystanders in time, just before the car lit up in flames. The locals took him to the nearest hospital for primary treatment and later shifted him to Max Hospital in Dehradun. According to BCCI, Pant suffered multiple injuries on his whole body but is out of danger. His condition is stable for now.

“Rishabh Pant will take at least three to six months to recover,” Dr. Azam

As per the latest development, the doctor treating Rishabh Pant, Dr. Azam, stated that Pant is suffering from a ligament tear in his right knee. And that the knee will take 3-6 months of recovery time. Hence, the wicketkeeper is likely to stay out of the field for at least 3–6 months.

“Pant will take at least three to six months to recover from the ligament injury. And if it’s severe, he may take more time. Further evaluation can be based on his detailed injury report,”

This means that Pant will miss the upcoming Border-Gavaskar test series against Australia as well as IPL 2023. Notably, Rishabh Pant is the captain of the Delhi Capitals for the upcoming season of the IPL. It is still unknown if he will recover fully in time for the 2023 ODI World Cup.

Furthermore, as per a recent report on Cricbuzz, Rishabh could be airlifted to Delhi for further treatment. Furthermore, the BCCI and the Indian Prime Minister assured Rishabh Pant’s family of all necessary assistance.
