Roger Binny speaks out on Rohit Sharma’s captaincy

Former Indian cricketer, Roger Binny was elected BCCI President last month after Sourav Ganguly’s exit. The BCCI chief spoke to the media ahead of the 90th annual day of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association. Binny was called in as the chief guest and obliged the media after the event.

Rohit Sharma took over the full-time captaincy of the Indian cricket team after Virat Kohli stepped down from all roles. Ever since his records as a captain has been good so far. Although, the major litmus test for Rohit Sharma as a captain in the ongoing ICC Mens T20 World Cup 2022. And, Rohit, the captain has been phenomenal. India finished the group stages as the table toppers and qualified for the semi-finals quite effectively.

The BCCI chief, Roger Binny, was asked to compare Rohit’s captaincy with that of the former World Cup winning captains like MS Dhoni and Kapil Dev. Binny responded that with a subtle, politically correct statement.

“Everyone has a different approach,” Roger Binny

Roger Binny answered a media question relating to Rohit Sharma’s captaincy in the T20 World Cup. Refusing to compare his captaincy with that of the others, Binny said that everyone has a different approach toward the role. He further added that nobody can be compared to the other as each has a different perspective on the leadership role.

“Rohit is an experienced player. He has played so many matches and been in so many situations. Everyone has a different approach. Dhoni is totally different, you can’t compare him, Kapil, or Gavaskar. Each one has a different way of how they operate”

India moves on to the semi finals

After sailing through the group stages, the men in blue will now face England in the semi-finals. Furthermore, Adelaide Oval will be the host of the match. Additionally, India won the previous game played at the venue and is in good spirits. England is having a good run as well. The match-up will be one cracker of a game and a delight for the fans.

Meanwhile, India has never won a T20 World Cup since its inaugural season in the year 2007. Hence, the duo of Rohit and Dravid have a task up their sleeves to take the team to that final lap.
