Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli close to 5000 runs milestone

Kohli

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are among the greatest batsmen in Indian cricket history. In the ongoing ODI series against Australia, the duo has not been able to perform as per their standards. However, they have a chance to create history in the third ODI. Together, Rohit and Kohli have amassed 4998 runs in the 50-over format of international cricket. Hence, by scoring just two more runs in the upcoming match, they will break a world record and become the fastest pair to reach 5000 runs in ODI cricket.

ROHIT AND KOHLI TOGETHER HAVE AN AVERAGE OF 62.47

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are two of India’s most celebrated batsmen. They are on the verge of setting a new world record in the upcoming ODI match against Australia. They are just two runs away from completing 5000 runs as a pair in the 50-over format. Rohit and Kohli have taken 85 innings so far at an average of 62.47. Currently, West Indies’ Gordon Greenidge and Desmond Haynes hold the world record. This pair reached the milestone in 97 innings. Australia’s Matthew Hayden-Adam Gilchrist and Sri Lanka’s Tillakaratne Dilshan-Kumar Sangakkara follow closely in the list.

Only one pair with more than 4000 runs in ODI cricket has an average of over 60, and that is Kohli-Rohit. In the overall tally, Kohli-Rohit are on the 8th position in terms of pairs with the highest runs scored in ODI cricket. Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly are the top pair on the list, having amassed a staggering 8227 runs together in ODIs.
