INTERNATIONAL CRICKET

Rohit Sharma conflicts the idea of Virat Kohli. says, Test must be spread

Kohli

Virat Kohli said only five cities in India should host test cricket which Rohit Sharma opposed the last day. According to him, Test cricket should be spread everywhere. He thinks that cricket will improve only then.

However, India vs Australia Third Test starts on Wednesday. Ahead of that match, Rohit said,

“Test cricket has to be made more popular among everyone. For that it is necessary to have test cricket in all parts of the country. It is not enough to organize only Test matches in a few big cities.”

2019 saw Virat Kohli saying different from Rohit Sharma: voted for five cities to host Tests

In 2019, Virat Kohli however, said the complete opposite to what Rohit Sharma said recently. The former India captain said,

“This matter has been discussed for many days. In my opinion Test cricket should be played in five cities in India. I agree that cricket is played in many states. International matches are given in ‘rotation’ system at all those places. But it is fine for T20 and ODIs. Test cricket should be played at five selected venues. So that we can be sure in advance what kind of pitch will be there and what kind of people will come to watch that match.”

Virat Kohli however left Test captaincy in 2022 after which Rohit Sharma took the responsibility in all formats of Indian cricket. In 2021, Virat left the leadership of T20 cricket. After this Kohli had to leave the leadership of one-day cricket. Rohit eventually got the responsibility.

Nagpur and Delhi respectively will host the first two matches of the ongoing Border-Gaoskar serie. The third test will be in Indore’s Holkar Stadium. Last Test in Ahmedabad. India won the first two matches. Australia failed miserably in front of the Indian spin power. Rohit and Co. will want to maintain that dominance in the remaining two matches as well.
