Rohit Sharma not to be a part of second Test against Bangladesh

Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma is not going to be a part of India’s second Test against Bangladesh at Dhaka.

Rohit has injured his thumb which is still stiff according to the latest reports.

However, Rohit will regain fitness soon and will be available for the series against Sri Lanka starting next month.

During the second ODI, Rohit injured his thumb while fielding against Bangladesh in the first innings.

He was then rushed to the hospital for scans and came back later with a taped thumb.

India, however, could not win the second ODI despite Rohit’s heroics towards the end.

After the injury, Rohit did not participate in the third and final ODI and then went on to miss the opening Test at Chattogram.

India have won the first Test against Bangladesh after which news came that Rohit is not going to be a part of the second Test as well.

While he is prepared to bat in the second Test, the management feels that Rohit can severely aggravate his injury by doing so.

KL Rahul to remain skipper in second Test against Bangladesh

Rohit’s opening partner and vice-captain, KL Rahul will continue to lead India in the second Test against Bangladesh.

Dhaka is host for the decider Test between the two nations and India will look to clean-sweep the series.

Rohit’s absence means that Shubman Gill retains his place at the top for India.

Gill made a fantastic century in the first Test and is now stating a strong case for his selection in the red-ball setup for India.

That’s why he will look to bat well in the second Test at Dhaka as well and make the most of his opportunity.

The BCCI has not given any official news of when will Rohit return to the Indian setup.
