Rohit Sharma is making the most of his time in Mumbai. He made a surprise visit to the U-19 Zimbabwe team training in Mumbai. MCA allowed the Zimbabwe U-19 team to train in Mumbai for the upcoming U-19 T20 World Cup 2024. The technical director of Zimbabwe Cricket, Lalchand Rajput, arranged the tour to expose and educate the team about challenging sub-continent conditions.

“Rohit Sharma is an inspiration for the boys,”

Former Zimbabwe cricketer and mentor, Prosper Utseya, said that they arrived in India to test the player’s ability to perform in completely different conditions and see if they could sustain. Moreover, the idea is to prepare them to adapt to any situation in the future.

“It’s food, humidity, weather, and intensity in cricket. We want them to get tested – all-around learning – that is the idea. We want them to know how to bat and bowl for long periods of time. If we can have a good foundation and ultimately produce a very competitive national side, the task will be successful,”

Prosper further added that Rohit Sharma was present during their game at BKC on 15th December. He asked Rohit to accompany him into the dressing room and have a chat with the boys to encourage them. Rohit Sharma graciously agreed and visited the team post the match.

“I asked him if he could have a chat with the boys in the change room. He agreed and was very happy to do that. It was very good of Rohit to take time out of his busy and precious schedule and share his experience and knowledge. He is an inspiration for the boys. The young generation, they grow up watching him,”
