Rajasthan Royals in a recent move have appointed former Sri Lanka pacer Lasith Malinga as fast bowling coach along with Paddy Upton as Team Catalyst.

The Royals issued a press release announcing the same.

Malinga retired from all forms of cricket for Sri Lanka last January and had also gone with the Sri Lanka Men’s team to Australia where he was their Bowling Strategy Coach.

Malinga was happy with his appointment as fast bowling coach for the Rajasthan Royals.

He was also happy to be back in the IPL and remembered his times with the Mumbai Indians.

He is now looking forward to creating more memories with the Royals.

Paddy Upton has remained the Royals’ head coach from 2013-15 and then in 2019 but will now be performing a totally different role that of Team Catalyst.

His job will be to bring cohesiveness to the team so that they function together as a unit.

He will also look after the mental upkeep of the team so that they do not feel the bio-bubble strain.

Upton will remain with the team for four weeks and then will remain virtually connected to them.

Kumar Sangakkara welcomed both of them into the Rajasthan Royals fold and recounted their achievements and accomplishments as well.

Other coaching staff who are already connected with the Royals will remain in their original positions. Other staff include Trevor Penney, Zubin Bharucha and Dishant Yagnik.
