Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli send out heartfelt messages to the Women in Blue

Indian Womens Team

On Saturday, India Women were on top of the world as they gave a dominating performance against Sri Lanka women.

It was the Women’s Asia Cup final in which India Women were facing Sri Lanka women.

Winning the toss and opting to bat first, the Chamari Athapaththu-led Sri Lanka were not in the game from the start.

They played in a very clumsy fashion and kept giving away their wickets to India’s bowlers.

Renuka Singh was the pick of the bowlers for India Women as she grabbed three wickets and gave only 5 runs.

Similarly, Rajeshwari Gayakwad too hopped into the action as she and Sneh Rana demolished Sri Lanka further by picking up two wickets each.

Moments after winning the title, India men’s former and current players poured their wishes on Twitter.

The first of these was from the legend, Sachin Tendulkar who wrote,

We clinch the Asia Cup once again! Many congratulations to our women’s team for winning the Asia Cup for a record 7th time! #AsiaCup2022Final

Virat Kohli too congratulated the Women in Blue with this tweet,

Congratulations @BCCIWomen Way to Go

Finally, Sri Lanka women skittled out for a paltry 65 runs for 9 wickets in their 20 overs.

Afterwards, India women also struggled in the second innings as they lost two wickets in under 5 overs.

But, it was some great batting from Smriti Mandhana as her 51 helped India finish off the game in just 8.3 overs.

In the post-match presentation, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur said,

We should give credit to the bowlers and the fielding unit was very good today from ball one. We didn’t want to give them easy runs as every ball is important, proud of the way we performed today.
