KL

Former Indian cricketer, Sanjay Manjrekar sided with KL Rahul after the latter got dismissed by a short ball in the second innings.

KL Rahul is going through a lean patch. He lost touch with his golden form after sustaining a groin injury. Rahul stayed out for a long while. However, his form took a massive hit right after his comeback to the national team.

The vice-captain of the team, KL Rahul, failed to turn up in the marquess events such as Asia Cup 2022 and T20 World Cup 2022. He looked under pressure and uncomfortable at the crease throughout both tournaments. Fans raged and demanded his sacking from the team. However, being the vice-captain is his biggest leverage.

Sanjay Manjrekar backs KL Rahul amidst his poor form

KL Rahul filled in Rohit Sharma’s shoes and is leading the team in the ongoing test match against Bangladesh. Rohit injured his thumb in the ODIs and hence got ruled out of the first test match. However, KL Rahul failed to step up with the bat in both innings. He could not even get past 30 in both innings.

In the second inning, KL got out while attempting to attack a short ball. He attempted to pull shot a bouncer but got beaten by the pace and found a thick outside edge. The ball went straight to the fine leg, and the fielder took a fine catch.

However, even after his poor run of form, the commentator for the game, Sanjay Manjrekar, defended the opener. He said that KL Rahul does not have a weakness against the short ball. He lost his wicket while attacking the short ball.

“KL Rahul does not have a weakness against the short ball. But he got out trying to attack the short ball today,”

Despite KL Rahul’s flop show, India finds itself in a commanding position after taking a 523-run lead. KL, the skipper declared the inning and managed to get 6 wickets at the end of Day 4. India needs 4 more wickets to seal the first game and take an early lead. As for Bangladesh, they need 241 runs, which looks like an uphill task at the moment with just 4 wickets in hand.
