Sanjay Manjrekar feels Siraj is giving serious competition to Mohammed Shami for T20 World Cup spot

India led a stellar chase against South Africa in the 2nd ODI yesterday at Ranchi where they won the game by 7 wickets and 25 balls to spare.

Mohammad Siraj was in excellent form with the ball in hand as he took three wickets and conceded 38 runs from his 10 overs.

With the series now level at 1-1, it will be interesting to see who takes the trophy away tomorrow.

Ex-cricketer-turned-commentator, Sanjay Manjrekar tweeted,

Siraj seriously pushing Shami for that Bumrah spot in the squad.

This tweet was posted after South Africa’s innings which ended at 278/7.

Shami is due to travel to Australia for the mega event and will be one of the reserves for Team India but after the injury of Bumrah, many feel that Shami will be drafted into the main squad.

Now, with Siraj doing so well, BCCI will have a hard time selecting between these two.

Yesterday, during the run-chase, Ishan Kishan missed out on his century by 7 runs but Shreyas Iyer remained not out on 113 from 111 balls and guided India home.

Siraj has been doing exceptionally well as he is getting more game time in the middle.

Because of his regular performances, Siraj could make the cut rather than Shami.

Shami has fully recovered from Covid-19 and that’s why is travelling to Australia.

BCCI have still not named any replacement for Jasprit Bumrah and should be making the call soon anytime now.
