Sanju Samson is the captain of Rajasthan Royals and is always on knocking the doors of cricket for the Whit ball format. He even leads his team to the finals of the Indian Premier League 2022. Unfortunately, he did not make it to the champion that year. However, this year they are the table toppers after winning 4 matches out of 6. He reveals how he got his maiden IPL contract in Rajasthan Royals with the help of Sreesanth. He also told that Rahul Dravid asked him out to play for the Royals.
Sanju Samson on his maiden IPL contract
“Sreesanth took me to the RR trials. Dravid was there. Paddy Upton was there. I wasn’t expecting much from the trials because I did not know what kind of players they were looking for. It was a two-day trial which however was very special as I have never batted like that ever again,”
Sanju Samson further added that
“Then Rahul sir came and told me, ‘You are definitely doing great. Would you like to play for RR?’ That gave me a huge confidence given that it came from Rahul sir. If a legend like him says, ‘I’m good enough’, then I am good enough,” Samson told Star sports
He then played for the Royals for the 2013-2015 seasons. Then he went on to play for the Delhi franchise in the years 2016-2017. Then he returned back to Rajasthan Royals in 2018. Samson was handled captaincy in the 2021 season. Rajasthan Royals are yet to win the championship after the first season win.
