Seven Team India members test positive for COVID-19

As Team India prepares to lock horns with West Indies on Sunday at the first ODI at Ahmedabad, recent reports have come forth telling that seven Indian players have tested positive for COVID-19.

The players who have contracted the infection are Shikhar Dhawan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shreyas Iyer and Navdeep Saini.

Indian officials have also got the infection. All the players and staff have been moved to a separate floor of the hotel.

India and West Indies are undergoing a 3-day quarantine period in Ahmedabad that has officially ended today.

The West Indies team is totally free of any infection and have also completed their quarantine period. An official from their side confirmed the news.

We were all negative before we left Barbados. And all negative at our arrival tests at the airport yesterday in Ahmedabad. We are in room isolation on a separate floor to the Indian team as per the protocols.

The BCCI also added their clarification of the situation.

Every member was also asked to undergo an RT-PCR test at home before embarking on their journey to Ahmedabad and the travel was undertaken only after testing negative.

Mayank Agarwal has come in as a replacement in the ODI squad for India.
