Bangladesh’s all-rounder, Shakib Al Hasan has tested COVID-19 positive in two rounds of RT-PCR testing.

He will now have to be in isolation at home for the next five days.

Shakib will also miss out on the home series opener against Sri Lanka.

The all-rounder returned from the USA on the 9th of May and was expected to join the national team at Chattogram on the 10th of May.

But, after testing positive for Covid, Shakib will now have to sit out the first Test match.

Jalal Yunus, Bangladesh Cricket Board’s cricket operation chairman confirmed the news through a press statement.

Bangladesh was expecting Shakib to make a return to the longest format this year.

Shakib’s last Test match was against Pakistan at Mirpur in December 2021.

He also missed out on the New Zealand tour due to personal reasons and made a return home from South Africa after playing the ODIs.
