Shardul Thakur’s heartwarming reply to Virender Sehwag’s ‘Lord’ comment

In the recent IPL match, Kolkata Knight Riders secured a victory against Royal Challengers Bangalore thanks to the incredible performance of all-rounder Shardul Thakur. Following the game, former Indian batter Virender Sehwag was among many to commend Thakur, referring to him and Rinku Singh as “Lords” in a tweet.

During a conversation, KKR keeper-batter Rahamanullah Gurbaz informed Thakur of Sehwag’s tweet. Thakur was thrilled to hear Sehwag’s praise and responded with a big smile, expressing that he has learned from the legendary cricketer. Thakur also mentioned that there is no one who can hit a fast bowler like Sehwag can.

“Paaji, aap se hi to seekhe hai. Aap to Guru ho clean hitting ke. Aapse accha kaun maarta hai fast bowler ko? Hum bhi dekh dekh ke hi seekhe hai. (Sir, I have learnt it from you only. Who else could hit a fast bowler better than you? We have learnt by watching you play),”

Shardul replied.

Shardul hit 9 boundaries and 3 maximums

KKR’s start to the IPL 2023 was a disastrous loss to PBKS. KKR’s top-order batsmen struggled to get going, except for Rahamanullah Gurbaz. Gurbaz scored 57 runs off 44 balls, including six boundaries and three maximums. However, when the team was in trouble, Thakur came in and partnered with Rinku Singh.

Together, the pair put on a 103-run stand, leading KKR to a mammoth total of 207 runs in 20 overs. Thakur launched a fierce attack on the opposition bowlers, scoring 68 runs in just 29 deliveries, including nine boundaries and three maximums. Meanwhile, Rinku Singh scored 46 runs off 33 balls.

Thakur’s innings has now become the third-highest individual score by a No. 7 batsman in the cash-rich league. The partnership between Thakur and Rinku is also the third-highest for the 6th wicket or below.
