Delhi Capitals batsman and Mumbai Ranji team captain, Prithvi Shaw failed to make the cut in the fitness test ahead of the IPL.

He performed poorly in the yo-yo test and scored below 15 which is less than the prescribed minimum of the BCCI for men.

16.5 is the cut-off for men in the yo-yo test. Shaw was attending the camp at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru from March 5 to 14.

A BCCI source told PTI that it is difficult for Shaw to get a perfect score as he has just played 3 Ranji games back to back.

The source further added that the fatigue was evident in Shaw’s case and this low score does not mean that he cannot participate in the IPL for the Delhi Capitals.

All white-ball players attended the camp at the NCA to get their baseline fitness levels recorded. This will help them keep track of their fitness before and after the IPL.

Meanwhile, India all-rounder Hardik Pandya has cleared his yo-yo test with flying colours with a 17 plus score, much higher than BCCI’s cut-off.

Pandya has also been bowling consistently at a speed of 135 kmph in the net sessions.

Hardik has yet to start bowling fully and hasn’t done so since 2019 which has affected the Indian team’s balance.
