Shikhar Dhawan laments lack of quality off-spinner in PBKS team

Shikhar Dhawan, the captain of Punjab Kings, expressed his concern over the absence of a good off-spinner in the team after their loss against Kolkata Knight Riders on May 8. He believed this was one of the reasons why they were conceding so many runs in every game.

Dhawan also acknowledged the challenging batting surface at Eden Gardens and praised Arshdeep Singh, who almost led PBKS to victory with his bowling in the last over. However, Singh missed his line and length in the final delivery, allowing Rinku Singh to hit the winning boundary for KKR.

“Feels bad, of course not feeling great. Not an easy track to bat on, in the end they played well. It was a great effort from Arshdeep, the way he has bounced back from the last game. All credit to him that he took the game to the last ball. I feel that we don’t have a good off-spinner. When left-handers come, from one end we have a leg-spinner and at the other end we have a left-arm spinner,”

Shikhar said after the game.

“So that’s where I feel we are leaking a bit of runs. This wicket was offering turn as well so I feel that’s where we took the hit,”

he further added.

Rinku Singh, Andre Russell steal the show in City of Joy

KKR faced a challenging task while chasing a target of 180 runs against Punjab Kings. However, Andre Russell played an impressive innings of 42 runs off 23 deliveries, which helped KKR to stage a comeback. Rinku Singh also contributed to the victory by smashing 21* runs off ten deliveries, including a final ball boundary. As a result, KKR successfully chased down the massive total, moving them up to the fifth spot on the IPL points table, while Punjab Kings slipped to number seven.
