After a thrilling comeback victory over Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings captain Shikhar Dhawan expressed his admiration for two of his players, Harpreet Brar and Prabhsimran Singh.

Punjab Kings was in a difficult position after losing three of their key batsmen in the powerplay, but Prabhsimran Singh’s magnificent maiden IPL century guided his team to a competitive total. The second innings also saw Delhi openers taking control of the game, but Harpreet Brar turned the tide by claiming four crucial wickets, including three of Delhi’s top four batters.

Shikhar Dhawan was impressed by the performance of both young players and praised them for their match-winning efforts in their recent victory.

Shikhar said:

“The way the bowlers brought us back in the game it was amazing. All credit to our spinners and also our fast bowlers as well. I told Harpreet to keep it slow and target the wickets. And the way he stood up and took those wickets and especially getting those left-handers out was really fantastic.”

“It was turning from 4th over and playing that kind of knock is just incredible and amazing from Prabhsimran. That knock actually helped us reach that total,”

he further added.

We need to stay calm and not get too excited: Shikhar

Punjab Kings’ young players have been impressing fans during the current edition of the tournament. Shikhar Dhawan praised their ability to handle pressure in difficult situations. However, Dhawan’s own performance has been subdued lately, causing him to fall behind his competitors in the race for the IPL 2023 Orange Cap.

“When I’m with the youngsters I try to stay young and feel good that the boys have taken responsibility and the maturity as well. Very happy with the way they are growing and maturing. This win has brought a lot of confidence for us. We need to stay calm and not get too excited. Staying calm has helped us and need to do the job in the next couple of games,”

Shikhar concluded.
