Punjab Kings captain Shikhar Dhawan is disappointed after losing the match in the last ball against Kolkata Knight Riders. He figured out the reason for the loss in the tight match. Moreover, he credited a teammate for keeping the team in the fight at the end.

In Monday’s game, Kolkata needed 6 runs in the last over to win. In that over, Dhawan gave the ball to left-arm fast bowler Arshdeep Singh. He picked up 1 wicket with 4 runs off the first five balls of the over. However, Arshdeep could bowl well the last ball of the match. KKR’s Rinku Singh guarded the with a four.

In the post match interview, Dhawan said,

“If you lose the match, you will obviously feel bad. The wicket was not easy to bat on. Kolkata played well in the end. But I will talk about Arshdeep. He couldn’t bowl well in the beginning. He finally came back in a big way. Credit goes to Arshdeep for taking the fight to the last ball.”

Dhawan said, absence of a leg spinner cost the match against Kolkata

Dhawan also identified one of the main reasons for the loss against Kolkata. The Punjab skipper said,

“We don’t have a good off-spinner. As a result, we could not stop the pace of the left-handed batsmen. The ball was spinning well on the wicket. A good left-arm spinner would have been an advantage. This is where we have gone a little backwards.”

Overseas players like Sam Curran of Punjab and Liam Livingstone did not have success with the ball in Monday’s match. Dhawan, however, did not blame any teammate for the loss. However, he is clearly not happy with the performance of the bowlers.
