Shubman Gill claims the best cricketer of January reward from ICC

ICC announced the name of the best cricketer of January. Shubman Gill got that award. After Virat Kohli, the title of the best was once again in the hands of an Indian. Last year, Virat was the best cricketer of October. After that Shubman got this award.

The right-handed batter from Punjab was in great form in white-ball cricket against Sri Lanka and New Zealand. Shubman scored 567 runs in January. The 23-year-old batsman scored three centuries. Shubman scored a double-century against New Zealand in Hyderabad. He scored 208 runs off just 149 balls. Scored 116 against Sri Lanka and 112 against New Zealand. Shubman said,

“It feels great to be the best cricketer in the ICC. The month of January was very special for me. I have to give credit to my coach and teammates for this success.”

Shubman won the man-of-the-match award ahead of New Zealand opener Devon Conway and Indian pacer Mohammad Siraj. He said,

“It’s nice to get an award for playing well. It will boost my confidence. This award definitely has a special value ahead of the World Cup at home.”

Shubman Gill saw a steep rise in ICC rankings

Shubman has been in a frenzy for the past few months. After a double hundred in one-day cricket, a hundred in 20-over cricket came from his bat. Shubman played an inning of 126 runs off 63 balls in the third T20 match against New Zealand in Ahmedabad. India won the T20 series by beating New Zealand by a huge margin of 168 runs due to his century. Shubman got the award for good batting. Shubman has also risen in the rankings in one-day cricket. The Indian opener rose to the sixth position.
The Indian batsman accessed 168 cricketers in the ICC’s T20 rankings due to his century against New Zealand. In the new list published on Wednesday, Shubman has come up at number 30.
