After batting first Delhi Capitals scored 130 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The team which has great records in chasing failed to chase this small total. Ishant Sharma defended the 12 runs in the final over of the match. The Number 1 ranked team in the table got defeated by the number 10 team. Shubman Gill, the Opener of the Gujarat franchise speaks up after the loss.

Shubman Gill said that

“The wicket wasn’t so bad. We bowled really well. We couldn’t stitch partnerships in the top order, which created pressure on lower order. The wicket was tough to bat, but with the kind of batting we have, chasing 131 shouldn’t have been a problem,”

Shubman Gill further added that

“As a player and a batter, we are all bound to have one off day. It was just one of those off days where he backed himself, which every batter should. He backed himself to hit those runs, but DC bowlers bowled some good yorkers in the end,” Shubman Gill said.

The opener is one of the contenders for the orange cap in this year’s IPL. Gill has scored 339 runs in nine games. However, he was not able to make an impact against the Delhi Capitals match. Hardik Pandya also scored a half-century but it also did not make any impact. The all-rounder played a bit slower which might be one of the reasons for the loss.

Even Gill backed their captain saying everyone has a bad day in the big tournament.
