Former Australian player, Simon Katich has left the position of assistant coach at Sunrisers Hyderabad just after the Mega Auctions last week.

According to reports, Katich felt uncomfortable in the IPL bubble and did not want to spend a long time away from his family.

Simon Helmot will take charge as assistant coach of SRH once again.

Simon Katich has been formerly part of two franchises, which are Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

He was an assistant coach with Jacques Kallis in the KKR camp and then became head coach of the RCB.

But, he left RCB too in last year’s IPL in the UAE leg midway and Mike Hesson has to double up as a head coach and director of cricket.

In the Mega Auctions, SRH splurged huge amounts to purchase Washington Sundar, Nicholas Pooran and Rahul Tripathi. They also bought Romario Shepherd and Abhishek Sharma.

As for their retention, SRH kept Kane Williamson, Abdul Samad and Umran Malik.

In the 2021 IPL, Sunrisers Hyderabad made news after they sacked David Warner as their skipper and also barred him from sitting in the dugout.

Warner who led the team to a win in the 2016 IPL final was quite disheartened and said that it was a bitter pill to swallow and that he would never get the answers and that he must move on.

Thus, the coaching staff issues would have to be remedied soon by the SRH.
