Sourav Ganguly calls Bumrah an important asset for India

Bumrah

Former BCCI President and India captain, Sourav Ganguly has recently called Jasprit Bumrah an important part of India.

Bumrah is India’s pace spearhead in all three formats of the game and his injury is a huge cause for concern for the Indian side.

Recently, Bumrah was added to the ODI squad in the home series against Sri Lanka. But, his lower-back stress fracture is still not good.

Ganguly says that Bumrah’s injury lay-off will cause huge problems for India in the future.

It is also the 50-over World Cup this year in India and that is why Bumrah’s presence during the event is of utmost importance.

Unfortunately, due to his injury lay-off, Bumrah’s return to the squad now looks even more doubtful and the BCCI says that he needs more bowling resilience before he can start playing.

Says Ganguly on Bumrah,

Bumrah is such an important asset of the India team. There will be problems obviously. Fast bowlers will get injured often. You have to wait for him to recover. Fast bowling is not easy.

Ganguly opens up on renovations of Eden Gardens

When asked about what renovations will take place at the iconic Eden Gardens Stadium, Ganguly said,

Eden Gardens is a nice ground. Before the World Cup, new structures and stands will be built.

Bumrah has remained absent from India’s squad since September 2022 when he played a three-match series against Australia.

Because of this, he missed out on Asia Cup 2022 but returned to play against Australia before the T20 World Cup.

That’s when his injury flared up even more and made him unable to participate in the T20 World Cup.

Recently, the BCCI in their New Year Review meeting also discussed Bumrah’s injury management at length.

Furthermore, Ganguly has stated that it is not an easy task to beat India at home which is why he is backing Rohit Sharma and Co. to lift the trophy of the ongoing ODI series.
