Star Sports promo hints at Hardik Pandya as captain for Sri Lanka series

A recent promotional video released by the broadcast group, Star Sports, showed Hardik Pandya as the main center of the upcoming Sri Lanka series.

Hardik Pandya has emerged as the next suitable captaincy candidate for the Indian cricket team. His performance post his comeback has been nothing but inspirational. Moreover, Hardik’s stint as the skipper of the Gujarat Titans has impressed the selectors even further. Hardik led his team Gujarat Titans to a maiden IPL title in their inaugural season.

India will be hosting Sri Lanka for a white ball series. The series will begin on 3rd January 2023 starting with the 3-match T20 series. However, ahead of the series, promotions have begun in full swing. The promotional video released for this series has raised many eyebrows.

Hardik Pandya given the center stage in the promotional video

The India vs Sri Lanka white ball series will be broadcasted live on Star Sport. Before the series begins, the broadcasting group released a promotional video of the series. In the video, Hardik is seen sitting in the stands of the stadium. He is having a fun banter with a couple of Sri Lankan supporters. The video ends with pictures of Hardik Pandya and Sri Lankan captain, Dasun Shanaka pitted together.

The video has raised several questions among Indian fans. Fans have started speculating whether Hardik Pandya is going to be India’s captain for the upcoming series. As a matter of fact, BCCI is yet to release the official squad for the series. Hence, under such circumstances, such a promo does raise substantial questions.

Furthermore, rumors started flying around that Hardik could be the next full-time skipper of the Indian cricket team in the T20 format after India’s exit from the T20 World Cup 2022. However, nothing has been confirmed by the BCCI or Hardik Pandya himself. Hence, will have to wait for an official confirmation from either of the parties.
