Stephen Fleming says Ben Stokes is now only “batting cover”

Ben Stokes

Stephen Fleming, the head coach of Chennai Super Kings said that they are not the kind of team who do immediate change and chop. He also said that Moeen Ali is bowling well in the given situation. Ben Stokes is available for selection from the last week, but he was not played. However, Chennai Super King’s overseas players are Devon Conway, Moeen Ali, Matheesha Pathirana, and Maheesh Theekshana. Ben Stokes is struggling a bit to bowl added their head coach.

Stephen Fleming on Ben Stokes

“Ben’s ability to bowl overs at the moment is still a bit of a challenge, but he’s there as that batting cover,” Fleming said. “But with Moeen bowling well in good conditions – we go to Delhi [next] which has been turning – we think the balance of the side has been right.”

Stephen Fleming further added that

“And look, we’re second on the table, so it’s not our style to chop. And change just because we’ve had a loss where things didn’t go our way. We won’t do that. We might tinker with it but we’re very focused on getting the right team for Delhi.” said Stephen Fleming

According to some reports, it is said that Ben Stokes may leave from the squad of Chennai Super Kings’ squad after Delhi’s match. It is because of his national team duty as he is his skipper for the test team. James Anderson is also unlikely to play in the Ireland’s test match. He is most important for his team in the England’s condition.
