Rohit Sharma receives backlash from Gavaskar over wrong statement

Former India skipper and now legend, Sunil Gavaskar has heavily come down upon India skipper Rohit Sharma recently.

Previously, India lost their second successive World Test Championship final to Australia last month and the reason given was that the players did not get enough time to prepare.

Meanwhile, Rohit stated after the loss that if they had gotten 20-25 days to practice ahead of the marquee event, then they would’ve won it as well.

But, Gavaskar is not satisfied with Rohit’s answer and has criticized him heavily.

Moreover, team India reached London after playing a two-month-long season of IPL 2023.

Furthermore, if we talk about WTC 2021, then India reached England just 15 days prior to the tournament.

Now, Gavaskar has also asked for answers from Rohit Sharma regarding the West Indies tour.

Says Gavaskar,

What kind of preparation are we talking about? Now they have gone to the West Indies. You have the example of the World Test Championship before you. Are you playing any matches? So, what is this talk about 20-25 days?

Additionally, he has also stated that India’s senior players aren’t interested in going early to tours.

The truth is the main guys do not want to go early because they know that come what may, they will get selected. When you go early, they will talk about the workload. You call yourself the fittest team in the world or fitter than the earlier generations, then how do you break down so soon? How do you have a workload issue when you play a 20-overs game?

Recently, India has faced a plethora of injuries to main players such as KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, and Jasprit Bumrah. All of them are currently recovering and getting fit for the ICC ODI World Cup 2023.

Bumrah’s fitness is still under the scanner; Rohit Sharma gives careless statement

Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah’s fitness issues still remain under the scanner as it cannot be said for sure whether he will be able to participate in the ODI World Cup or not.

The pacer has been out of action since 25th September 2022 when he played his last T20I against Australia.

Because of his injury, India lost in the T20 World Cup 2022 and even the World Test Championship this year.

Now, the ODI World Cup is going to be held in India after a gap of 12 years, so fans are expecting Bumrah to make a splendid comeback to the Indian side.

Furthermore, Gavaskar has also criticized India for using the excuse of workload management to escape from difficult questions.
