Sunil Gavaskar suggests break for Rohit Sharma from IPL

In their last game against the Gujarat Titans, Rohit managed just two runs during the run chase. Former Indian batter Sunil Gavaskar has suggested that the 35-year-old take a short break from the IPL to help him regain his form. Gavaskar believes that this break could do wonders for Rohit and enable him to come back fresh for the last few matches of the tournament. It could also help him focus on the upcoming World Test Championship final.

The Mumbai Indians have struggled in the current season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), losing their first two games and then winning three in a row before losing two more. Skipper Rohit Sharma’s poor form has been one of the biggest factors behind the team’s struggles.

“I would like to see some change in the batting order [for Mumbai Indians]. Honestly, I would also say that Rohit should maybe also take a break for the time being, and keep himself fit for the World Test Championship [final]. [He can] come back again for the last few matches, but right now, [he should] take a little bit of a breather himself,”

Sunil Gavaskar said.

Only a miracle can make Mumbai qualify: Gavaskar

Gavaskar expressed his doubts about the Mumbai Indians’ chances of making it to the IPL playoffs, stating that it would take a miracle for them to do so. He noted that they would have to play some extraordinary cricket, both with the bat and ball, to finish at number four. And considering how they are struggling, it is very unlikely to see them go through.

Mumbai will face off against the Rajasthan Royals, led by Sanju Samson, at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, April 30. However, given Rajasthan’s current form, it could be a significant challenge for the five-time champions to secure a victory.
