Suryakumar Yadav had an amazing 2022 in T20 Internationals. The Indian batter scored 1164 runs in 31 T20Is at an average of 46.56. Suryakumar was hence named as the ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year 2022.

Surya has not looked back since he made his debut in 2021 against England. He has risen to the number 1 rank in ICC Men’s Ranking in T20 Internationals. The dynamic batter scored 2 hundreds in the calendar year 2022. He smashed 117 off 55 against England in Nottingham, while the second hundred came against New Zealand in November. The third hundred came against Sri Lanka in Rajkot where he scored an unbeaten 112* off 51 in January 2023.
The batter played with a staggering strike rate of 187.43. This was quite evident as he smashed 68 sixes in T20Is in 2022. Suryakumar Yadav was miles ahead of the second-highest Rovman Powell. Surya outscored Powell by 29 sixes.
He became the only player to score 100-plus fours in T20Is in 2022 scoring 106 boundaries.
The Mumbai batter became the only second batsman in T20 internationals to score 1000 plus runs in a calendar year. He was the only batter to score 1000+ runs in 2022.
Surya in World Cup
In the T20 World Cup in Australia, Surya was the third highest run scorer in the tournament. The aggressive right handed batter scored 239 runs at a strike rate of 189.68 with 3 half-centuries.
Surya has not been able to crack the One Day code yet. But he is certainly setting a new benchmark in T20 Cricket.
