Suryakumar Yadav has been going through the best form of his life. It has hugely impressed Saba Karim, the former Indian selector. Suryakumar currently is enjoying the second rank in the T20I batting ranking. He played vital innings of 61 and 50 not out in the first and second T20Is respectively in the tri-match series against South Africa. While speaking to the daily sports news show ‘SPORTS OVER THE TOP’ of SPORTS18, Karim said that India’s World Cup winning chances of India depends highly on Suryakumar’s performances.

Karim said,

Well one thing I can say is – India’s chances of winning the World Cup depend largely on Suryakumar Yadav’s form and I say this because he plays in such a difficult position. In the middle overs, in the T20 format to play with such a high strike rate is not so easy but it comes so easy for Suryakumar Yadav because of his skill, experience and he’s so dexterous.”

Suryakumar Yadav got an uncanny ability to find the gaps in the right areas: Karim

Karim added,

He’s got an uncanny ability to find the gaps in the right areas, at times he toys with the bowling and there are several vacant areas which he is able to exploit so easily. So yes Suryakumar Yadav, I hope and pray that he does well and continues with this form even in the World Cup.”

Suryakumar presently has 801 rating points. He henceforth is now the number two T-20I batter in the ICC T-20I batting ranking. Pakistan’s wicketkeeper batter Rizwan(861) is the only man ahead of him.

The third and the final T-20I against South Africa was however a loss. The Proteas defeated India by 49 runs. Huge credits undoubtedly goes to Rilee Rossouw’s marvellous century (100* off 48). However, Suryakumar Yadav earned the player of the match award.

The Rohit Sharma-led Indian team have already departed for Australia. The team will face Pakistan, their arch-rivals on 23rd October, in T-20 World Cup opening match at Melbourne.
