Teammates show elation as Mukesh Kumar gets selected for India vs South Africa ODIs

Bengal’s domestic pacer Mukesh Kumar is all set to make his debut for India against South Africa in the ODI series.

Mukesh knew about his selection via a Whatsapp group for Team India yesterday. His joy knew no bounds and all of his Rest of India teammates made the occasion a special one for him.

Sarfaraz Khan and others congratulated Mukesh on his achievement and the pacer thanked all of them.

His family is quite happy and emotional after their son’s selection in India’s squad.

The Bengal pacer was quite happy to receive the love and support from all his teammates.

The series against South Africa is due to start on the 6th of October.

Mukesh has been a very consistent performer for Bengal in the domestic circuit.

Kumar says this is a very big moment for him and his family.

The pacer lost his father to a brain stroke before the Ranji finals. He practised in the morning and then spent the evenings with his father at the hospital.

Kumar has also played against New Zealand A as he was a part of India A’s Test squad.

Because of his domestic performances, Mukesh has truly earned his maiden India call-up from the BCCI.

With the red ball, Mukesh has picked up 113 wickets in 31 first-class matches while in 18 List A games, he has picked up 17 wickets with a brilliant economy rate of 5.25.

In the first unofficial Test against New Zealand A, Kumar picked up a five-wicket haul and then in the Irani Cup, he picked up a 4-wicket haul to help the Rest of India skittle out Saurashtra for 98.

Mukesh is currently working with the CAG and has appeared for CRPF exams thrice after his graduation.
