“The start of IPL changed our lives,” AB De Villiers reveals the impact of IPL his life

Former RCB veteran, AB De Villiers spoke about his IPL journey and explained how the league changed the lives of him and many other cricketers.

AB De Villiers ruled the Indian Premier League (IPL). Not many cricketers have that magnitude such as De Villiers. He changed the perspective of people towards T20 cricket. AB retired from IPL in 2021 after a successful career. He will go down as one of the greatest in the history of IPL. The South African registered around 5162 runs in IPL.

In a recent interview, Ab De Villiers opened up on his IPL journey and also recalled his initial days in the tournament. AB started off with Delhi Daredevils in 2008 and moved to the Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2011. Ever since he displayed unreal batting ability. He earned the name “Mr.360” during his IPL journey.

“People are really passionate about cricket,” AB De Villiers

In an interview with SA Cricket Magazine, AB De Villiers discussed the impact of the IPL on the lives of young cricketers. He said that the league changed the lives of cricketers forever. AB also appreciated Indian fans for their support and said that their passion for cricket is unreal.

“It was a huge occasion for me and a lot of the other players. The start of the IPL changed our lives. The people are really passionate about cricket. Not only with the home team but they support members in other teams as well,”

AB De Villiers went on to say that his most valuable asset in the IPL was the people he met. He further recalled the time he spent with Australian legend, Glenn McGrath during his initial days in IPL.

“The biggest thing that stands out for me are the people that I met. I think of Glenn McGrath and the time I spent with him. He was this hard guy and all of a sudden I am sitting with him in the changeroom and having a beer with him,”
